Why we built Studio
Most video editors lock your project inside a binary file only that editor can open. That rules out scripting, version control, and the AI agents that already edit code so well.
Studio keeps the whole timeline in one readable file. You can drag clips around in the editor, write an animation in TypeScript, or ask an agent to restyle every lower third, and all three are just edits to the same project, with the same undo history.
Free, and local
Studio is free. There’s no account, no subscription and no watermark. Projects are folders on your own computer, and rendering happens there too.
Standing on open source
Studio’s animation engine comes from Motion Canvas and its community fork Canvas Commons, both MIT-licensed. We’re grateful to everyone who has contributed to them.
